IP members were honored to volunteer with international guests on January 26th, 2013. These visitors, invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, with our IP volunteers, cleaned and painted office spaces at Paraquad. The service project was a joint effort with IP Board Member Mary Pedersen and the World Affairs Council’s International Visitor’s Program Director, Jessica Bellomo.

The six international participants traveled from Uganda, Botswana, Mexico, Tunisia, Guyana, and Uzbekistan. Their program and training was arranged by World Learning and focused on civic activism.

The five interfaith volunteers were Leanne Schneider (Judaism), Zubaida Ibrahim (Islam), Kevin Bevcar (Catholicism), Emily Byrne (African-American Episcopal) and Mary Pedersen (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

Paraquad is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people with disabilities to increase their independence in society.

Interfaith Partnership will be connecting more people of all faith while engaging in community service opportunities throughout the community. If you are interested, please contact us at info@interfaithstl.org.
