Annual Members Meeting and Program: “Yours, Mine and Ours: Abraham’s Modern Family”

On Thursday, February 23rd, at 7pm, Interfaith Partnership will host our Annual Members Meeting and Program. We will welcome all (not just members!) to the Wehrli Chapel located in the Press Building at Eden Theological Seminary, for an evening that is both productive and interesting.

Members Meeting: 7pm-7:30pm

For a half an hour after we convene, Interfaith Partnership will host our Annual Members Meeting, a necessary part of our calendar year where we offer the opportunity for members to affirm a slate of nominees to our Board and our operating budget for 2017.

Program: “Yours, Mine and Ours: Abraham’s Modern Family”

We are pleased to offer an exciting interfaith discussion facilitated by Rev. Dr. Laurel Koepf Taylor, Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Eden Theological Seminary, Dialogue will focus on the story of Abraham, bringing attention to the Cave of Machpelah in Hebron. It is a place held sacred by Jews, Muslims and Christians and is the subject of the upcoming multimedia opera event “The Cave Project,” presented by Arts & Faith St. Louis. The dialogue will be an interactive opportunity for all people to explore why this particular sacred space and story are (or are not) important to them, their religious tradition or their understanding of the world.

Dr. Koepf Taylor is the author of “Give Me Children or I Shall Die,” which contrasts the interdependence between generations in families in the Biblical world with the structures of today’s adult-child relationships.

The Cave Project

The Cave is a compelling multimedia opera with video by Beryl Korot and music by Steve Reich. It features recorded interviews set to live music. Palestinians, Israelis and Americans were invited in the early 1990s to respond from their Muslim, Jewish and secular perspectives about the importance of the story of Abraham and his burial place, The Cave of Machpelah in Hebron. It is a place held sacred by Jews, Muslims and Christians.

The Cave has an inspirational message that promotes interfaith understanding and goodwill.

Programming Initiatives

Arts & Faith has assembled a remarkable group of faith leaders, university and seminary presidents and other community leaders to produce programming before the performances, at the performances and importantly on an ongoing basis following the performances.

The Cave Project

This is an opportunity to shine a light on St. Louis at its best and provide a forum for common understanding around issues that desperately need to be heard and discussed.
